GOUVERNEUR — A free primary care clinic for uninsured adults is expected to open late this month in the Mini-Mall.

Health and Hope Mission will serve mostly patients from St. Lawrence, Franklin, Lewis and Jefferson counties, but it will accept clients regardless of geographic location.

Patients will be seen by appointment only. They may schedule appointments between 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesdays by calling 287-1406.

Providers will include nurse practitioner Rachel I. Raven, the clinic’s primary organizer; nurse practitioners Andrew LaFrance, William Nostrum and Laurie Brown; physician’s assistant Frank Bateman in dermatology and Dr. Jay F. Schechter, a dermatologist.

Services could include preventive care, such as Pap smears and prostate cancer screening, and management of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

The time of staff members is donated. Donations are welcome.
