Troiano’s grand slam homerun sparks Rockets; Heuvelton, Hammond win


MORRISTOWN - Margret Troiano belted a grand slam homerun in the six run sixth inning and belted a two run double in a eight-run fourth inning lifting Morristown to a 21-6 victory over H-D in NAC West Softball action.

Liz Troiano, Margret’s sister, connected for three singles while Micaela Roberts provided two singles and three RBI for Morristown (2-6 NAC West) which took advantage of 10 walks.

Karissa Bertrand laced a RBI double while Sam Green, Taylor Piercey, and Jessica Geddes each singled. Yaoying “Casey” Ling provided an outstanding rightfield catch saving two runs in defense of winning pitcher Taylor Piercey who fanned three and walked just two.

Clarissa Davis smacked a double and a single for Hermon-DeKalb (1-7 NAC West, 2-8). Courtney Davis added two singles. Chelsey MacKay and Sabrina Wood each singled.

Meanwhile, 8-0, 9-1 overall Heuvelton rolled past 4-5 NAC West, 4-7 Harrisville 11-3 while Hammond (5-3 NAC West) denied Lisbon (6-2 NAC West) 12-3 and 5-3 NAC West, 6-4 Edwards-Knox topped Clifton-Fine (1-6 NAC West) 23-3.

Heuvelton 11, Harrisville 3:Rachel Thornhill smacked four singles and a double and Logan Tallman connected for a triple, a double, and a pair of singles leading the Bulldogs who scored five in the third inning.

Paige McCormick fanned 10 and allowed just two hits in the five inning win. Tallman added three strikeouts and allowed one hit in two innings of relief.

Alexis Sawyer rapped a double and a single while Hannah Thornhill lined three singles and McCormick chipped in a single.

Emory Matott lined a double and a single for Harrisville and Megan McIntosh chipped in a single.

Hammond 12, Lisbon 3: A six run fourth inning sparked the Red Devils as Taylor Bowman, Stephanie Morgan, Brianne Langtry and Alyssa Crosby delivered an RBI singles, Emily Bush stroked a two run single in the inning.

Mikayla Horton walked one and struck out five in a six hitter backed by a 20-hit offense.

Horton finished with three singles and a triple, Crosby stroked a double and three singles, Macy Wilson lined a double and a single and Bowman chipped in two singles and a sacrifice fly. Langtry (single), Bush (single), Bridget Kron (double), Lauren Workman (single), Gabby Marshall (two singles), Morgan (single), and Shandy Clemons (singled) also hit safely.

Katie Sovie smacked a double and a single for Lisbon. Sierra Dobbs gapped a triple and added a sacrifice fly. Alex Amo, Gabby Walker, and Lindsey Remington each singled.

E-K 23, C-F 3: Harleigh LeBarge fanned five in the six hitter. Mackenzie Hall delivered a double and two singles for E-K while Makayla Bacon ripped a double and a single and Shaye Taylor stroked three singles. Ema Hitchman drilled a double and a single for C-F.
