Massena PD Public Record

BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Jesse A. Mashaw, 22, of Parker Avenue, Massena, on a bench warrant late Thursday afternoon. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

The warrant alleged Mashaw had failed to appear in Massena court as directed.

Mashaw had pleaded guilty in Dec. 1,2010 to endangering the welfare of a child in a plea bargain agreement that satisfied two other endangering charges and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

He failed to show for scheduled pre-sentence imnvestigation interviews on Dec. 15, 2010 and Dec. 23, 2010 and did not appear in Massena Village Court on Jan. 23, 2011, his scheduled sentencing date before Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustasfson. The bench warrant was signed on April 23.

Mashaw was charged after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female on two occasions in June and one occasion in July 2010. “I thought she was 15, not that it makes it any less wrong,” he noted in a statement he signed for police.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - MASSENA - Village police charged Joshua M. Dion, 22, of 2 Willow St., Apt. 204, Massena, with disorderly conduct and discharging his weapon from a window at 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Willow Street.

Police said they responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at Fay Motors on Willow Street. They didn’t find any suspicious people, but they said they did hear repeated shots from an air pistol, with some of the shots nearly striking police offers that had responded to the complaint.

They were able to see a gun barrel sticking out an apartment window at 2 Willow St., and officers responded to that apartment and talked to the four people in the apartment. They reportedly identified Dion as the shooter.

Police said they had received no reports of damage to vehicles in the Fay Motors lot.

BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Paul J. Mathous, 27, of 49 1/2 Maple St., Lot 3, Massena, on a St. Lawrence County Court bench warrant at 9:19 a.m. Friday on Maple Street. He was transported to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility pending his arraignment on the warrant in county court.

Mathouspleaded guilty to third-degree rape in August 2010. He admitted to having sex with an underage female in Massena on May 31, 2010.

The teenager told police she and Mathous had been texting back and forth, and he came to her home in the foothills of the Adirondacks at approximately 11:50 p.m. May 30, 2010.

She told police Mathous was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by another Massena man. The teenager said the two men stayed at her house until 1:30 a.m. when they left to go to the Walmart store in Malone. She said they then went to a Massena residence.

“Paul kept asking me to have sex with him. I refused at the beginning but then gave in because I was afraid,” she said in a statement she provided to police.

Mathous is classified as a Level II sex offender, the category for offenders viewed as a moderate risk to commit another sex crime.
