The Salmon River boys and Potsdam Central girls lacrosse teams remained undefeated atop their respective NAC standings after netting contrasting road wins on Thursday.
Salmon River 13, Colton-Pierrepont 5: In Colton, the Shamrocks ran out to a 6-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they improved to 9-0 overall.
Skylar Thomas led a balanced attack with two goals and four assists. Lakota Square generated another four goals while Dalston Day tallied a goal and four helpers. Kason Tarbell (1 assist) and Sky Sunday broke through for two goals each while Trenton Tarbell and Karonhiate Lazore both netted singletons.
Gyle Dominy fashioned two goals and an assist in the losing cause. Andrew Holden, Noah Whalen and Scott Boyce struck for the other goals.
Kobi Johnson and Taz Oakes combined to make five saves sharing crease duties in the win. Craig Miller turned aside 16 of the shots he faced working C-P crease.
The Shamrocks are slated to play at Potsdam on Tuesday while the Colts travel to Brasher Falls next Thursday to take on St. Lawrence Central. Both games face-off at 4:30 p.m.
Potsdam 11, Heuvelton 10: At Heuvelton, the Lady Sandstoners survived a close call as the teams battled to a 7-7 halftime tie and the game ended with the host Lady Bulldogs working to gain the equalizer.
Michaela Cole led the Potsdam attack with four goals. Nettie Rishe broke through for another three while Hannah Drechsel, Matisyn Beamer, Ally Miller and Abby Gruneisen each netted solo goals.
Jackie Sovie paced the Heuvelton offense with three goals. Kylie Piercey connected for three goals and Olivia St. Pierre struck for another two. Maddie St. Pierre tallied a goal and assist and Ashlyn Piercey fashioned a pair of helpers.
Katelyn Bloom worked the Potsdam crease for 11 saves while Heather Thompson stopped 10 shots for the Lady Bulldogs (1-7, 1-6).
The Lady Sandstoners (7-3, 6-0) put their undefeated NAC record back on the line this afternoon when they travel to Canton for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with the Lady Bears.
In the other varsity girls lacrosse action on Thursday, Massena outlasted non-league rival Northwood Prep 9-8, Canton edged OFA 8-7 and Saranac Lake hosted Salmon River.
Massena 9, Northwood 8: At Mike Nicholas Field, Erin Francis and Dominique Valancius finished with two goals and an assist each as the Lady Raiders worked their way to a 6-4 halftime lead before holding on for the non-league win. Shannon Casey chipped in a pair of goals while Megan Hans, Carlie Leary and Devin Kelly each netted solo tallies.
Annalee Beckstead and Felicity Love made four saves each splitting crease duties in the win.
Massena (7-2, 6-1) returns to action on Tuesday on the road against NAC rival OFA starting at 7 p.m.
Canton 8, OFA 7: Katie Lapinski scored two goals, including the game-winner with just under four minutes to play, and logged an assist as the Lady Bears overcame a 5-4 halftime deficit.
Alison Noble and Tessa Knight each tallied two goals while Lacey Kenny and Rachael Huntley each produced a goal and an assist. Megan Howard made 11 saves backstopping the win.
Mackenzie Bresett scored four goals for OFA followed by Nikki Holmes with three while Erica Chase stopped 11 shots.
