SLC, Massena net NAC boys lacrosse victories


St. Lawrence Central turned back Saranac Lake while Massena Central pulled away from OFA in NAC varsity boys lacrosse matchups on Friday.

SLC 10, Saranac Lake 3: In Brasher Falls, the Larries built a 5-2 halftime lead then broke the game open in the fourth where they outscored the Red Storm 4-1 to raise their NAC record to 8-2.

Ian Lynch generated three goals and an assist while Blake Baldwin tallied two goals and two assists to anchor the winning attack. Lukas Arquiett chipped in two goals and one helper. Cody Burns (1 assist), Styles Arquiett and Marshall Burninghausen struck for the other goals while Thomas Brownell and netminder Kody Kocsis, who worked the crease for 11 saves, both earned an assist.

Jeff Stevens paced Saranac Lake with a goal and assist. Oliver Holmes and Quinn Urquhart netted the other goals while Aaron Noel logged a solo helper and Mike Burpoe turned aside 20 shots.

The Larries are slated to play at OFA on Tuesday.

Massena 11, OFA 5: In Ogdensburg, the Raiders took control with a six-goal third-period as Sako Rourke fashioned four goals and two assists in the winning effort. Jordy Mitchell (2 assists) and Isaiah Perry broke through for two goals apiece while Rhoades Tarbell tallied a goal and three helpers. Nick Henrie accounted for the other Massena goal.

Nick Perrigo and Jake Garrison struck for two goals each in the losing cause while Jordan McCormick delivered a goal and two assists.

Kyle Cooke recorded five saves backstopping the win and Spencer Lawrence turned aside 11 shots for OFA (2-8, 2-8).

The Raiders (6-5, 4-5) are slated to play at Salmon River next Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Canton 9, Potsdam 8: At Canton Central, the Bears steadily worked their way to a 7-1 halftime lead before turning back a second-half charge by the Sandstoners. No further details were made available by presstime.

The Sandstoners are due to host Salmon River on Tuesday.
