Potsdam girls run past Canton to remain unbeaten in NAC lax


CANTON - The Potsdam Central varsity girls lacrosse team relayed an 8-2 halftime lead into a 12-7 win over Canton at Roger Dusharm Field on Friday.

Nettie Rishe netted four goals and Ally Miller tallied two goals and two assists as the Lady Sandstoners remained undefeated atop the conference standings at 7-0. Michaela Cole (1 assist), Jenny Tardelli and Hannah Drechsel contributed two goals each toward the winning effort.

Alison Noble and McKaylee Boak anchored the Canton offense with two goals apiece. Katie Lapinski (1 assist), Tess Knight and Rachael Huntley broke through for the other goals while Kali Frank recorded a solo assist.

Katelyn Bloom finished with six saves working the Potsdam crease and Meg Howard stopped six shots for the Lady Bears (5-4, 4-4).

The Lady Sandstoners, now 7-3 overall, are slated to host a non-league game against Northwood Prep on Monday at 4:30 p.m. before taking on Massena at home on Thursday at 4 p.m. in a rematch of the top two teams in the NAC this spring.


In the lone NAC Central Division varsity softball matchup on Monday, OFA overwhelmed Salmon River 21-5 in five innings.

After Cierra Hill of Salmon River doubled in two runs in the first inning, the Lady Devils answered with 15 in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.

Brittany and Felicia Barr combined to pitch the victory and collaborated with Stacy Barr to produce seven hits in the heart of the batting order.

Brittany Barr lined a single, a double and a triple, Felicia Barr singled twice and Stacy Barr collected three singles.

Maddie Bresett doubled and singled, Riley Luckie and Jocelyn Fifield singled twice and Adrianna Compo, Cheyenne Tyo and Mollee Ahrens all singled.

Sierra White and Erica Martin singled for Salmon River.
