N-N gains baseball sweep at SRF; P-H rallies past SLC


Norwood-Norfolk gained a sweep on the road over St. Regis Falls while Parishville-Hopkinton outlasted St. Lawrence Central in NAC varsity baseball matchups on Monday.

N-N 23-5, SRF 5-1: In game one, Cody Smith went 2-3 mwith a homerun and three runs scored, Brandon Short pitched the win (2 innings) and went 2-3 with two runs scored and Kyle Sawyer went 3-3 with three runs scored as N-N scored nine in the first and 11 in the third.

In game two, Smith went 2-2 with a homerun and a triple, Tristen Harvey fanned five batters in four inning and allowed one hit and finished 2-3 with two runs scored and Kolby Munson went 2-2 lifting the Flyers who scored six in the fourth.

Cummings led off the game with the Saints only hit.

P-H 2, SLC 1: Riley Doyle singled with one out in the top of the seventh to score Tanner Wilson from third with the go-ahead run as the Panthers (5-5) defeated St. Lawrence Central in an East Division game in Brasher Falls.

St. Lawrence (6-4, 6-3) made three errors in the top of the seventh.

Mike Burns struck out 10 for the Panthers and walked just two. Devon Euto went 3-for-4 to lead the Larries and Hayden St. Hilaire struck out 10.

In other NAC baseball action on Monday, Chateaugay posted a 7-3 East Division win in nine innings over Tupper Lake while OFA downed Central Division rival Salmon River 16-0.

Chateaugay 7, Tupper Lake 3 (9 innings): Greg Holmes delivered a two run double in a four run ninth inning backing up Nick Ashline’s complete game 12 strikeout, five hitter. Cody Smith finished 2-3 for Chateaugay.

Chris Crouse went 1-2 with a triple and Roger Delair was 1-4 with a double for Tupper Lake.

OFA 16, Salmon River 0: In Fort Covington, four pitchers combined on an 11-strikeout two-hitter and six players lined three hits or more as 7-1 OFA recorded its seventh straight NAC Central win in defeating Salmon River.

Zach Sharpe (2 inn 3 Ks) Alex Farrell (2 inn 3 Ks), Kinnon LaRose (2 inn 4Ks), Brendan Arsenault (2 inn 2Ks) combined for 11 strikeouts and Konnor Murdock (4 RBIs) drilled a triple, a double and two singles to lead the OFA offense. Seth Pinkerton (2 RBIs) followed with two doubles and a single and Sharpe (3-3 3 RBIs), Andrew Cole (1 RBI) and Arsenault (1 RBI) each connected for three singles. Zach Barr (2 RBIs) stroked two hits and Kinnon (1 RBI) and Breton LaRose each added singles.

Jarrid Gray connected for the two Salmon River hits.


In a modified baseball matchup, Norwood-Norfolk surged past Chateaugay at Peter Jarvis fanned 13 and allowed one run in tossing his first career no-hitter.

Tristen St. Andrews caught the no-hitter and sparked the Flyer with five hits, going for the cycle along with a second double. Gage Orogoloi (double), Zack Benware, Riley Smutz (2 doubles) and Kaleb Parker had two hits apiece.

Jarvis aided his cause with an inside-the-park homerun while Hunter Dewey rapped a single and Blake Haywood drew a pair of walks.
