To The Editor:
On behalf of the Potsdam Humane Society regarding the cannisters in place on counters throughout our community; a huge and gracious thank you for allowing the pet money jugs to be in place.
These cannisters fund the spaying and neutering of all pets adopted from PHS thus preventing further unwanted and or abandoned animals in our community.
Also at this time please remember the heat of summer and traveling with your pets in vehicles. Pets do not sweat nor do they weather the heat well inside a car. That a window is down a few inches is not sufficient and pets overheat very easily and become distressed. On tragic occasions they die. Even a 60 degree day with a vehicle parked in the sun can become very hot in a short amount of time.
If you must travel with your pet please leave the airconditioning on as you would for a human companion while you are out of the vehicle. Your pet will thank you /be more comfortable and safe from the possiblities of overheating.
Best regards from the PHS and many thanks for the support we recieve.
