Graveside services for Janice Norton, age 65, of 182 Fulton Road, Lisbon, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:30 am at Norton Cemetery on Rt. 68, Canton with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Mrs. Norton passed away Saturday, May 4 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home.

Mrs. Norton is survived by six children, Mrs. Lawrence (Cynthia) Volpe, of Connecticut, Mrs. Robin Barber of Massena, Mr. Clyde (Lori) Bennet, Jr., Ms. Antoinette Bennett and her companion, Ben Scharf, of Canton, Mr. Lloyd (Corinna) Bennett, Sr. of Lisbon, and Mr. Jeremy (Mary) Lawton of Syracuse. Mrs. Norton is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Leo (Nora) Lawton of Lisbon, and her two sisters, Rosalie and her husband, Charles Bloss, of Syracuse, Lori and her husband, Richard Rienhardt of Tully. She was predeceased by one daughter, Jacqueline (David) Goble; seven brothers, Alford, Jon, Lawrence, Delbert, Ronald, Robert and Lloyd, Jr. (Bert); and two sisters, Dixie and Mary Lawton.

Mrs. Norton was born on November 3, 1947 in Lisbon, the daughter of Lloyd and Alice Halliday Lawton. She graduated from Lisbon School and Canton ATC. She later attended SUNY Potsdam where she earned her Master’s Degree in Biochemistry. She lacked one credit to receive a Doctorate. She first married Clyde Bennet in September 1972. That marriage ended in divorce. She later married Mills Norton on July 3, 1981. He predeceased her in August 6, 2012.

Mrs. Norton enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
