M-W track teams gain NAC sweep over Massena

MASSENA - The Madrid-Waddington track teams produced an NAC sweep on the road over Massena on Wednesday.

BOYS MEET

The Yellowjackets posted wins in 11 events in outscoring the host Raiders 157-150.

Austin Brush paced Massena with wins in the 100 and long jump. Kyle Nicholson led the 200 to account for the other individual first posted by the Raiders who won two of the three relay races.

Combining to lead the 3,200 relay were Alex Batton, Zach Fregoe, Tristan Nicholas and Stephen Grigg. The quartet of Batton, Nicholas, Noah Kormanyos and Brandon Fennell teamed up to capture the 1,600 relay.

For M-W, Austin Scott led the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 while Nick Zeledon won both the 110 and 400 hurdles and Ian Hawkins claimed both the shot put and discus.

GIRLS MEET

The Lady Yellowjackets scored wins in 12 events in downing Massena 140-96.

For the Lady Raiders, Robin Boudreau captured the 100 hurdles, Natalie LePage led the 400, Lucy Pang won the high jump and Jacalyn Lamice won the high jump.

Taylor Lenney led the way for M-W winning the 100, the 200 and the long jump. Katie Marcellus swept the shot put and discus.

MEET AT POTSDAM

A tri-meet in Potsdam saw the Sandstoners take on Norwood-Norfolk and Clifton-Fine.

The trio of Ethan Vinson (800, 1,600), O’den Robertson (100, 200) and Peter Clark (110 hurdles, 400 hurdles) led the way for Potsdam in the boys meet.

For N-N, Aaron Chandler and Preston Mason made strong showing in the shot put and discus while Connor Levison placed second in both hurdles races.

Nate Aldrich won the 400 for C-F.

In the girls meet, Maddie Drechsel won the 100, the 200 and the 400 to anchor the Potsdam scoring.

For N-N, Kaycee Saucier outdueled Potsdam’s Maddi Dow to win both the 800 and 1,600 while Cadence Hunkins paced the 400 hurdles.
