MASSENA - The driver of a vehicle who fled on foot after being pulled over by police on state Route 37 is now in custody.
New York State Police, Border Patrol, St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department and Massena Village Police had been involved in a manhunt Friday afternoon at the intersection of state Routes 37 and 56 for the driver of the vehicle who fled from police after being pulled over.
State police initiated a traffic stop on state Route 37 and the driver of the vehicle fled on foot. Police searched a wooded area in the field adjacent to Stewarts Shop. Assisting them were helicopters from the New York State Police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as well as a canine unit.
