LISBON - Despite seeing his team give up five runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to Heuvelton, Lisbon Central School Baseball coach Jeff Houmiel said the 12-1 setback in Northern Athletic Conference West Division play was much closer than the scoreboard read.
Heuvelton really didnt hit the cover off the ball but they just found the holes. It was more like a 7-1 game. said Houmiel whose team fell to 3-8 on the season while the Bulldogs remain unbeaten at 11-0.
Mike Guardino provided five of Heuveltons 13 hits while Jon Sloan stroked three including a bunt for a hit. Jack Palmer ripped a double and a single while Aiden Scagel, Cody Holland, and Mike Martin all singled.
Riley Alberto connected for two hits for Lisbon and played solid at third. Adam Kelley, Don Duprey, David Turri and James Darcy all singled.
Chris Power fanned five and hit one batter pitched the complete game five hitter without a walk. Turri and Alex Arduine pitched for Lisbon whilew allowing a walk.
Morristown 20, Hammond 0: Luke King crushed a grand slam homerun, a double and a single and plated seven runs lifting the Rockets (8-3) past the Devils (3-9) keyed by a 11 run fifth inning. Bobby Simmons went the distance for Morristown striking out 13 and allowing four hits - two to Nolan Martin and solos to Collin Martin and Nick Jewitt. Dakota Marshall smacked two doubles while Zach Kanaly ripped a double and two singles. Ryan Vollmer and Karter VanArnam lined a double and a single each while Simmons collected two singles and Devin Dulmage, Jake VanArnam, Tyler Delosh, and Jon Love each singled.
Harrisville, Edwards-Knox: Lightning came before the first pitch and the weather forced the game to be postponed.
Gouverneur 13, Salmon River 5: Ed Cushman hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added two doubles to lead the Wildcats (2-6, 2-4) past Salmon River in a Central Division game in Gouverneur. Matt Waugh went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and Hunter Ayen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Ayen also struck out eight. Justin Bigness drove in two runs for the Shamrocks (1-9, 1-8).
Massena 10, Malone 4: , Massena (4-5, 6-8) scored seven in the sixth for the win against host Malone (6-2, 8-3). Issiah Dillabough pitched the win in relief allowing just one run in four innings.
Offensively for the Red Raiders, Zach Rusaw had a pair of doubles in four trips to the plate while Issiah Dillabough singled and tripled. Patrick Manning and Joe LaBelle added two hits and drove in two runs apiece in the Massena win.
For FA, Brandon Welch singled and tripled while solo hits came off the bats of Shawn Mulverhill and Jordan Yando as Jake Perry had a double for his lone hit during the setback.
