Jeremy Mathers delivered a two-run double in the top of the 13th inning as Onondaga Community College defeated Jefferson Community College, 6-4 on Saturday in the first game of a Region 3 Division III sub-regional baseball series at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Mathers also singled twice for the third-seeded Lazers (31-16), who rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings.

Kyle Simmons went 3-for-6, including a triple, double and a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 10th inning to tie the game for the Cannoneers (26-18).

Nicolas Espino singled three times for JCC, which scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead in the third.

The second game of the best-of-three series is scheduled for noon today at the Fairgrounds, with the third game, if necessary to be played 20 minutes after game one.
