OGDENSBURG — Ogdensburg Public Library’s plan to publish a fundraising dessert cookbook next fall will take on a competitive flavor.

The Friends of the Library support group is sponsoring a dessert-baking contest May 22 to generate recipes.

“We need 150 recipes by June 1,” said senior library clerk Jo-Ellen M. Murray, adding about 15 have been received.

The contest and book have four categories: cookies/bars/candies, cakes and pies, special desserts and gluten-free.

All entries must be brought to the library, 312 Washington St., from 4 to 6 p.m. with judging for first-, second- and third-place winners in each category to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends will pay for up to 200 copies of the cookbook, titled “Library’s Just Desserts.”

The publication will coincide with the Friends’ annual fall book fair in November and proceeds will be used to buy books and learning materials.

To enter the contest, call the library at 393-4325 or email oglib@ncls.org.
