Norwood-Norfolk Central School class leaders

NORWOOD — The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at Norwood-Norfolk Central School are Jessica Fulk, valedictorian, and Carlea Weaver, salutatorian.

Miss Fulk, daughter of George and Kristina Fulk, Norwood, has an average of 97.84. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has taken several honors courses, including upper level sciences and art, AP American history, AP English and AP Calculus.

She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Art Club, Whiz Quiz, Robotics, Horizons, Science Olympiad, Envirothon and the Pi Mu Epsilon Interscholastic Math Contest, where she was top scorer and team leader. She is a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and participated in cross country, where she qualified for state honors all four years, indoor track and spring track.

Miss Fulk received Academic All Northern, High Honor Roll, Student of the Month, the University of Rochester’s Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art Awards painting category and the 21st Century Leadership Award through Wells College, Aurora. She has worked for the school’s Summer Recreation Program for three years, where she will work this summer, and is a baby sitter.

She will major in civil engineering at Norwich University, Northfield, Vt., where she plans to run cross country.

Miss Weaver, daughter of Carl and Jill Weaver, Chase Mills, has an average of 96.42. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has taken several honors courses, including upper level science, AP American history, AP English and AP calculus.

She is a member of band, leading the saxophone section, Concert Band, serving as treasurer, Jazz Band, National Honor Society and Varsity Club, serving as president of both, Student Council, Robotics, Pi Mu Epsilon Interscholastic Math Contest and is class treasurer.

Miss Weaver has participated in junior varsity and varsity soccer, receiving first Team All-Northern Athletic Conference her junior and senior years and Most Valued Player Defense her senior year, varsity basketball since the eighth grade, receiving second Team All-Northern Athletic Conference her senior year, and junior varsity and varsity softball, receiving second Team All-Northern Athletic Conference her junior year.

She received Academic All-Northern, High Honor Roll, Student of the Month, Leadership Award at Clarkson University, Potsdam, Wendy’s Heisman Award and the Chapter 10 New York State Athletic Administrators Student Leadership Award.

She has worked for the school’s Summer Recreation Program for two years, is a baby sitter and worked for Robert Moses State Park, Massena, and Coles Creek State Park, Waddington, where she plans to work this summer.

She will major in biological sciences at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, to prepare for veterinary school and a career as a veterinarian.
