The Watertown American Little League marked the memory of its former president on Saturday by dedicating a bench to Jeff Marra at the Ted Rand Memorial Field.
Marra, who died at age 49 on Nov. 2, helped reinvigorate a league on the verge of closure when he took over operation in 2007. A year later, he was named District 37s volunteer of the year and oversaw an expanded number of teams as well as improvements on and off the field. The league has remained strong since.
Last weekends start of the Watertown league season coincided with the dedication as members of Marras family and former Immaculate Heart Central classmates turned out to honor him.
The bench reads: Dedicated to Jeffrey A. Marra, a true friend of Little League.
