Heuvelton clinces softball title

STAR LAKE - Heuvelton clinched sole control of the NAC West title in Tuesday’s NAC Softball action.

Heuvelton 9, Clifton-Fine 3: Alexis Sawyer smacked a homerun and ripped two singles and Abbey Basford lined three singles leading the Bulldogs (12-0) who sealed the win with a five run seventh inning. Rachel Thornhill lined a double as Paige McCormick went four innings striking out five and Logan Tallman finished the final three innings with one strikeout in a combined three hitter.

Malory Folsom ripped a double for the Eagles and Delaney Kerr and Alexis Cowles each singled.

C-P 20, Tupper Lake 0: Eve Whalen belted a two run homerun and singled and Andrea Aldous connected for a triple and a single and three RBI to back Sabrina Johnson’s eight strikeout shutout.

Morgan Doyle, Kylie McKinley, Kathryn Miller, Johnson and Kelsi Gilbert all singled in the win.

Canton 28-31, Potsdam 0-5:Emma Rexford led the Golden Bears with three hits in each game of a Central Division doubleheader sweep of Potsdam (1-12, 1-9).

Tara Facey went 3-for-3 in game two for Canton (6-5, 6-3), and Beth Pearson struck out eight in the opener.
