Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy McCluskey, 75, of Canton will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, Celebrating. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery will follow. Nancy died at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; from 5-8 PM on Friday. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Potsdam Animal Shelter, Madrid Avenue, Potsdam.

Surviving Nancy are three sons, Thomas Ames; Michael Ames and Peter and Cindy Ames, all of Canton; three daughters, Theresa Ames and companion Ed Baxterof Canton; Nancy Gurney of New Paltz and Catherine Miller of Potsdam. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and by a brother, William McCluskey of Canton.

Nancy is predeceased by a son David Ames; a daughter, Hazel (Julie Anne) Ames; a brother, Thomas McCluskey and by a grandson Thomas C. Miller II and a great-granddaughter Delainey Ames.

Nancy was born on February 13, 1938 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late, Thomas and Rose (Patnode) McCluskey. She graduated from Canton High School in 1956 and attended Plattsburg State. Nancy worked in food service at Moongate Nursing Home for a short time and later for several years at Clarkson University, retiring in 1982.

She enjoyed gardening, camping, hockey and especially her grandchildren.
