Lewes DE— Richard P. Bush, 62, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday May 7, 2013 at his home in Lewes DE.

He leaves his wife of over 40 years, Nancy (Meyer) Bush, his son John Bush of Fort Washington, MD, his daughter Dawn Bush Albright, Hampton VA, four grandchildren in Richmond and Hampton VA and five sisters in Northern New York.

Born and raised in Lowville NY, the son of Richard and Margaret (Corbo) Bush, he graduated from Beaver River High School in 1968, and worked on the family’s farm before starting work at Climax Manufacturing in Castorland, NY where he was employed until 1995. He was a member of the United Papermakers Union and active in the Beaver River Rod and Gun Club. He loved trap and skeet shooting and bowling and occasionally golfing.

He met his wife, Nancy Meyer, at the Adirondack Grange hall where they regularly attended square dances and were married in 1970 at Saint Stephens Catholic Church, Croghan, NY. In 1995, they relocated to Alexandria VA where he worked as a grounds maintenance employee for Mount Comfort Cemetery until 1997 when they moved to Germany. Upon their return to the States he worked as a parts salesman for several car dealers in Alexandria VA until he retired.

Mr. Bush had a passion for animals and dedicated much of his early retirement time supporting the Westie Rescue Mid-Atlantic as a transporter and providing a foster home for rescues awaiting a “forever home”.

There will be no formal memorial service. Mr. Bush was cremated and a ceremony of life for the family will take place June 1, 2013 in Croghan, NY.
