To The Editor:

The Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library extend thanks to all of you who visited our spring 2013 book sale and those who contributed books, magazines, DVDs, or CDs. We also thank St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services Community Connection and the loyal volunteers who set up and staffed the sale.

Business remained brisk throughout the sale and bag sale. Not only are we raising money for The Friends, a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to advocating for and raising funds to help support library activities. Our book sale proceeds go toward supporting programming for children, teens, and adults. Watching patrons of all ages browsing and choosing books made me think that while the community supports us, we also have the satisfaction of providing a wide variety of materials twice a year.

As you know, the fiscal climate continues to be tough, and funding from local, St. Lawrence County, and state governments has been either eliminated (county) or cut (city and state). The staff, the board of directors, and our Friends organization are working hard to continue to make Ogdensburg Public Library a center of learning for our community. We cannot do it without your help.

The Friends meet on the second Wednesdays of September, October, and November, March, April, and May. We welcome your participation at meetings, at our book sales, and all our other activities.

Our next book sale will be held in the spring. For more information, please “like” and follow us on Facebook!
