Dear Friends: The following article is from the Ogdensburg Ministerial Association. We hope you find it uplifting and informative. Today’s article is titled, “Service.”

By ELDER STEVEN AND SISTER BARBARA BENSON

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Jesus said, “I am among you as he that serveth” (Luke 22:27). As true followers of Jesus, we also must serve others.

Service is helping others who need assistance. Christ like service grows out of genuine love for the Savior and of love and concern for those whom we have the opportunity to help. Love is more than a feeling; when we love others we want to help them.

All of us must be willing to serve, no matter what our income, age, condition of health, or social position.

There are many ways to serve, giving of our time. talents and resources. It doesn’t have to be something big. A smile, a kindness, just caring for others.

Sister Benson and I have been in the Ogdensburg area for 18 months. We have tried to be of service. We volunteered at the Ogdensburg Library four hours a week. We are impressed with the library and the wonderful people who work there: Director Wayne Miller, Stephanie, Julie, Ann, Jo, Roland and others. Thank you for your kindness to us.

We joined the Kiwanis Club, a service organization. We volunteered for many services, including helping at the concession stand every Monday night during baseball season. We enjoyed meeting all these fine people and working among them.

We became members of the Ministerial Association. Ogdensburg is served well by the dedicated and spiritual clergy who minister in this area

.We enjoyed their friendship and will remember them with fondness. We have enjoyed writing a few articles for this section of the paper. We hope they have been uplifting and meaningful.

Finally, we have interacted with the members of our church, teaching, and bearing testimony of Christ.

We have been blessed with their association and friendship. We love them.

We leave Ogdensburg with fond memories and ask the Lords blessings to be with you all.
