Murray’s Golf League produces wealth of birdies in week two

WADDINGTON - Week two of the Murray’s Old Irish Inn Golf League at the Twin Brooks Country Club was highlighted by five players sinking multiple birdies and two players shooting scores under par.

Matt Rutherford birdied #1, #7 and #9 enroute to a two-under par 34 on the front nine. Dan Dinneen birdied #13 and #15 to shoot a two-under par 33 on the back nine.

John Dinneen birdied #15 and #18 to finish with a one over par 36 on the back nine. Jack Duncan birdied #1 and #4 in shooting a 38 on the front side. Wayne Santamont birdied #6 and #8 to round out the multiple birdie scorers.

Other Birdie Brigade members included Ryan Hayes on #1, Gary LaPoint on #8, Jim Manning on #8, Jim Palmer on #4, Jon Mayette on #14, Jay Tiernan on #13, Tom Cameron Jr on #13 and Rick Magnusson on #14 (week 1 omission).

Under 40 Club: Dan Dinneen-33, Matt Rutherford-34, John Dinneen-36, Tom Cameron Jr.-37, Jack Duncan-38, Gary LaPoint-39 and Matt Rose-39.

High Team Points for the week went to Matt and Butch Rutherford with 8.5. Two other matches featured rematches between the divison winners and runners up from last year.

Gary “Guy” LaPoint and Gil “Gilly” Simons scored a seven-point win over the “coaches” Craig “TVI” Bogart and Ryan “Moose A Moose” Hayes. to stay atop the A Division. In the other featured match, Dan “The Man” Dinneen and another coach, Jeff “The Music Man” Stein recorded an eight-point win over Rich Pandel and Pat Dean to get within a half point of the B Divison leaders Bryan Mott and Rick Mayette.
