Scoring the first four goals and the last three goals of the game the OFA Girls Lacrosse team closed their NAC season at 6-6 with a 13-7 Senior Game victory over Saranac Lake on Thursday.

In a ceremony before the game, seniors Kaitlin Sheppard, Mackenzie Comeau, Nikki Holmes, Erica Chase, Zendel Cordwell and Nicole Hammond were all honored along with their parents.

It was also the Lady Devils (6-10 overall) final home game of the season as they will travel to Saranac Lake (5-7 NAC, 5-7 overall) to open the Section 10 Tournament on Monday.

The Lady Devils finished the season on a three-game winning streak and capped the late surge with two classy goals after the Red Storm cut a 10-4 lead to 10-7. Both goals came off pretty pass plays as Mackenzie Bresett set up Sky Hoover in front of the net with 4:42 to play and Nikki Holmes scored her third goal of the game from point blank range off a pass from Mackenzie Bresett with 3:40 remaining.

“In the last three games, we have become the team I knew we could be. Winning our last three games has given us a lot of confidence for the playoffs,” said OFA Coach Lauren Morley.

“Defensively we do very good job when teams set up against us and offensively we are doing a much better job with our feeds. The girls are making better cuts and doing a very nice job driving with the ball to pull up defenders and then feeding the open player”.

Bresett delivered three goals and three assists for a second straight game and Holmes finished with three goals and one assist.

Hoover scored twice, Kaitlin Sheppard netted two goals with one assist. Hunter Shaver, Danielle Guimond and Nicole Hammond all scored single goals and Zendel Cordwell and Comeau each passed out one assist to back Erica Chase’s eight-save effort in goal.

Kari Woodrow and Bridget Sullivan each scored two goals for Saranac Lake
