State police in Watertown are seeking the publics help in solving the theft and arson of two vehicles that were taken over the weekend from residences in the town of LeRay and village of Theresa.
The vehicles were stolen sometime last Saturday or Sunday, police said.
A green 2001 Land Rover Discovery II was stolen between 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday from the driveway of Timothy Cryster, 217 Mill St., in the village of Theresa.
The stolen Land Rover was found at 9:25 a.m. Monday on Lovers Lane, less than a half-mile north of Route 971V in the town of LeRay. It had been abandoned there and destroyed by fire, police said. Since the fire already had been extinguished, there was no need for firefighters to respond to the scene.
The second vehicle a black 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck was taken sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 5:20 a.m. Sunday from the driveway of Robert Smith, 26920 Libby Lane, town of LeRay.
It was found engulfed in flames and was destroyed by the fire, state police said. Evans Mills firefighters extinguished the blaze.
State police dont have any suspects. They would not say whether there was a connection between the two incidents.
