CAZENOVIA Emily Amell and Cayla OConnor scored four goals apiece and ninth-seeded General Brown held on for a 16-15 victory over No. 8 Cazenovia in the first round of the Section 3 Class C girls lacrosse playoffs on Saturday.
It was the programs first sectional playoff victory since 2004.
The Lions, who trailed 8-7 at halftime and overcame a pair of two-goal deficits in the second half, will play top-seeded Skaneateles (14-2 overall) in a quarterfinal game Tuesday.
Taylor Rosette dished out five assists, Bryanna Fazio finished with three goals and three assists, and Miah Rowland added two goals and two assists for General Brown (9-8).
Kayla Dorrance delivered nine assists and Kristie Kleine scored six goals to go with four assists for Cazenovia (9-8).

Troy Kovack fanned eight batters and allowed three hits in six innings as the Flyers blanked the Larries in a Northern Athletic Conference East game at Brasher Falls.
Brandon Short went 2-for-4 for Norwood-Nofolk (14-2, 12-1).
Nate McLaughlin and Dave Barnes each doubled for St. Lawrence (9-5, 9-4).
BRUSHTON-MOIRA 12, MADRID-WADDINGTON 6
Zach Burnett finished a home run away from the cycle, drove in three runs and picked up the win as the Panthers beat the Yellow Jackets in an NAC East game in Brushton.
Alex Burnett tripled twice for Brushton-Moira (9-4).
Greg Thompson supplied two hits for Madrid-Waddington (6-5).
PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 7-4, CHATEAUGAY 5-11
Wyatt Snell supplied three singles in the opener as the Panthers (6-10) claimed an NAC East split with the Bulldogs in Chateaugay,
Greg Holmes and Nick Ashline each doubled and singled for Chateaugay (5-8).

Lindsay Thayer tossed a complete game five-hitter with 12 strikeouts and drove in three as the Larries routed the Flyers in an NAC North game in Brasher Falls.
Haley Agan added two hits and three RBIs for St. Lawrence (18-2, 15-1).
Aleah Palmer went 2-for-3 for Norwood-Norfolk (14-4, 11-4).
