We really played a great first half. Defensively, Heather Thompson made some great stops early and Kylie Piercey, Danielle Moyer and Ashlyn Foster marked up well. But Potsdam came right back at us in the second half, said HCS Coach Becky Kelley who won her first game against Potsdam as head coach.
Olivia St. Pierre scored the first goal of the game with 13:42 left in the first half for Heuvelton but Hannah Drechsel tied the game with 12:08 for Potsdam. Jackie Sovie, a Lisbon student and Heuveltons leading scorer, went onto score the next two goals at 10:11 and 2:46 left in the first half and Olivia St. Pierre (1:06) and Maddie St. Pierre (:41.9) finished off the scoring in the first half for Heuvelton for a 5-1 lead.
Potsdam rolled in the second half scoring with 18:23 and 10:05 remaining to cut the deficit to 5-3 on goals from Jenny Tardell and Ally Miller. Sovie scored her third goal in the game with 9:00 left for a 6-3 lead. The Stoners closed out the scoring connecting twice in the final 20 seconds on goals from Michaela Cole and Miller who connected with 2.5 seconds left
