HEUVELTON - Tuesday’s Northern Athletic Conference Division II golf match between host Heuvelton and Salmon River and Brushton-Moira at Gilbert Greens Golf Course started 25 minutes late with a hostile cloud bank building on the horizon.

But because of their quick play ability in the no. 1 position Salmon River’s T.J. Roundpoint and Brushton-Moira ace Devin Delisle were able to complete a highly touted match. Roundpoint handed Delisle his first setback of the season 38-39 as a quick and elusive micro-burst settled into Northern St. Lawrence County. Heuvelton coach Josh McAllister took a cart to escort the final three-some off the course ahead of the storm.

“Just as our final three golfers were finishing the storm came. You could see it in the skyline,” said McAllister after Salmon River swept Heuvelton 4-1 and Brushton-Moira 4-1 and Brushton-Moira topped Heuvelton 3-2. “We had several personal bests today as Dakota Willard carded a 55 in the No. 5 slot and Lucas Harper posted a 43 in the No. 3 but Salmon River and Brushton-Moira had some good scorers,” McAllister said.

Roundpoint’s 38 with a birdie on eight beat Delislie (39) and Jack Tennant of Heuvelton (45) as Salmon River improved to 8-4-1 on the season. B-M’s Hunter Russell (39) was solid enough to beat Salmon River’s Logan Lamb (46) and Heuvelton’s Will Tennant (53) as the Panthers moved to 8-6

Heuvelton’s Harper (43) topped Jacob Bero of Salmon River (48) and Matt Niles of Brushton-Moira (52). Austin Comings (43) of Salmon River defeated Dedrick Johnson (51) of Heuvelton and Nathan Niles (58) of Brushton-Moira.

Salmon River’s Evan Swamp shot a 48 and won points over B-M’s Mike Labare (54) and Dakota Willard of Heuvelton (55). Johnson earned a point over Nate Niles 51-58 for Heuvelton which finished the season at 7-6-1 .
