LISBON - While Heuvelton developed into a dominant championship team in NAC West Softball race, Lisbon methodically fashioned itself into a very formidable second place finisher.

The No. 3 seed Knights went 10-4 on the regular season and earned a late-season appearance in the state rankings.

Lisbon earned the right play Chateaugay or Madrid-Waddington in the Section 10 Class D semi-finals on Tuesday by edging No. 6 seed Colton-Pierrepont 4-3 in 10 innings on Wednesday. No. 20 state ranked and No. 2 seed Chateaugay held a 7-4 lead over No. 7 seed Madrid-Waddington when the game was suspended by rain and will resume today in the fifth inning at 4 p.m.

No. 5 seed Hammond downed No. 4 seed Edwards-Knox 4-3 and Heuvelton’s game with Parishville-Hopkinton was postponed until today.

Lisbon 4, C-P 3: The Golden Knights erased a 3-1 deficit with two runs in the sixth inning and converted off the speed-up rule in the bottom of the 10th after stranding C-P runners on second and thirdbase.

The bottom of the 10th inning began with Sam Gladle placed on secondbase by the speed-up rule. Natalia Pitts followed with a single and Gabby Walker ripped her third single of the game, up the middle, which plated the winning run.

“This is just a great win for the girls. We kept battling and Alyshia Murray pitched an outstanding game for us. Their pitcher also did a great job,” said Lisbon Coach Renee Robinson.

“We worked very hard to prepare for their bunting game and Alyshia Murray is the perfect pitcher for that. She fields everything and makes very strong and accurate throws to first.”

Murray handled six groundballs and struck out six, did not allow a walk after passing the game’s first batter and backed by a sure-handed defense blanked a very solid C-P team over the last seven innings.

Sabrina Johnson walked only one batter and struck out five going all 10 innings for the 9-10 Colts.

Andrea Aldous, who made two-game saving plays at secondbase in the late innings, and Eve Whalen singled to produce a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Aldous also singled and scored in the third inning on a single by Kathyrn Miller.

Walker singled scored Lisbon’s first run in the first inning and then singled to start a two-run sixth which tied the game. Sierra Dobbs stroked an RBI single in the sixth and Katie Sovie plated the tying run with a groundout.

Pitts doubled and singled for Lisbon with Murray, Alison Mitchell, Katie Sovie, Alex Amo and Nicole Neadom stroking singles.

Aldous and Whalen both singled twice for C-P and Kathyrn Miller, Cortney Miller, and Kylie McKinley adding singles.

Hammond 4, E-K 3: Alyssa Crosby smacked two singles and a RBI triple and Taylor Bowman added a RBI triple for the Red Devils who scored twice in the sixth and seventh. Brianna Langtry added a double and a single while Makayla Horton fanned two batters, walked four in a six hitter.

Edwards-Knox received two hits from Katrina Moore and singles from Makayla Bacon, Mackenzie Halls, and Sarah Rice. M. Bacon fanned 10 batters and allowed three walks and five hits in the setback.

Chateaugay 7, M-W 4: The playoff contest in Chateaugay was suspended due to unplayable field conditions after a pair of afternoon thundershowers moved through the Franklin County area.
