St. Lawrence Central School class leaders


BRASHER FALLS — The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at St. Lawrence Central School are Heather Nicholson, valedictorian, and Caitlin Grow, salutatorian.

Miss Nicholson is the daughter of Dale and Brenda Nicholson, Nicholville. She has participated in the New York State School Music Association, where she was named an Area All-State for four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society and Spanish Club and has participated in dance and school musicals. She was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and 2012 All-County Flute Soloist.

Miss Nicholson volunteers at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the local fire department and enjoys writing. She will major in food science at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, where she received a Presidential Scholarship. Miss Nicholson also plans to study abroad and serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Miss Grow is the daughter of James and Dinora Grow, Brasher Falls. She is a member of the Spanish Club and National Honor Society and is a varsity athlete, participating on the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Miss Grow has been named to the Academic All-Northern team seven times. She was awarded an Augsbury North Scholarship from St. Lawrence University, Canton, the Marshall/Chavez/Means Scholarship from Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic University, Dean’s Scholarship from Alfred University, and Presidential Scholarship from Trine University, Angola, Ind.

Miss Grow plans to major in engineering at Worcester Polytechnic University.
