City drug store sells $2 million lottery ticket

A newly minted millionaire could be walking among us, unaware that they’ve struck it rich.

According to the New York Lottery website,, a $2 million winning ticket for the state’s Powerball lottery game ticket was purchased at Ogdensburg’s Kinney Drugs, 700 Canton St.

The winning ticket for the $2,000,012 jackpot was drawn Wednesday. The winning numbers are 9, 31, 35, 41, 57. The Powerball number was 26.

The lottery website said nobody got all six numbers to win the $40 million jackpot. But one lucky winner in the state got five numbers — courtesy of the ticket bought in Ogdensburg — to win the $2 million prize.

Christy Calicchia, lottery spokeswoman, said Thursday afternoon that the ticket holder hasn’t come forward yet.

She said the winner will have a year to claim the prize.

As spokesperson for Kinney Drugs on Thursday did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment on whether store officials know the identity of the ticket holder.
