Potsdam Police issue larceny warning

LARCENY WARNING - POTSDAM - After a recent incident of theft of prescription drugs on Morningside Drive, Potsdam Village Police are warning residents to be wary of individuals coming to their houses seeking to use the bathroom or get a drink of water.

Police said a white female, age 18 to 25, with dark hair and a ponytail, wearing a gray sweatshirt with a big front pocket went to Morningside Drive houses between 11a.m. and noon and asked the homeowner to use the bathroom.

When she was done, she mentioned being stranded in Potsdam.

Three homes ae known to have been approached, and two homeowners let the female inside.

Police are asking residents to be alert for strangers coming to their homes who are unknown to them.

Police believe this incident was intended to target the elderly who live alone or who gets services from a caregiver who might not always be there.

The Potsdam Police Department asks residents to call them if they become aware of family or others who might have been approached by people they don’t know seeking to gain entrance to their homes under suspicious circumstances.
