This photo of downtown Potsdam from the Potsdam Public Museum Archives shows the west side of Market Street. The date on the photograph is 1967.Starting at the corner of Market and Elm streets, from left, are: the Alyce Shoppe, now Little Italy;the Family Shoe Store, now the Lehey Agency; Stacey’s Restaurant, now Sieman’s; Barstow’s Furniture Inc., now the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and Misty Hollow; an empty lot, now the Twisted Turtle; Herbert’s (Men Shop), now Sergi’s Banquet Hall; Vernon Restaurant, now Sergi’s Restaurant;and Herman’s Men Shop, now Rogue Fitness and Protein Bar. The museum is seeking the identification of the missing building at 16 Market St. and wonders if the 1967 date is correct. Readers may contact the museum at 265-6910.
