Ogdensburg Chamber home of the month sign stolen, officials seek its return

OGDENSBURG — Jodie A. Arthur was thrilled when she was recognized as the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce’s June Gateways and Corridors Award winner for the appearance of her home. She had proudly displayed the Chamber’s sign announcing the honor in front of her 528 Paterson St. home since she received it in late May.

On Sunday, she noticed the sign was missing.

Chamber officials believe somebody playing a prank stole the sign, and are looking to get it back no questions asked.

“The lady who won the award is just devastated,” Chamber Executive Director Sandra M. Porter said Wednesday.

The sign measures 36 inches by 48 inches and is a hanging sign mounted on legs so it may be set upright in front of the honored home. It was donated by Gary Baker of Bake’s Kustom Painting.

“He put a lot of work into that thing,” Ms. Porter said. “We just want it back. If kids were just playing a prank or something, no harm done. Just drop it off at the office.”

Anyone with information about the sign’s whereabouts may visit the chamber office at 1 Bridge Plaza or call 393-3620.
