LOWVILLE – Wayne Dosztan, 63, passed away at his wife’s home on Trinity Ave. Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013, while under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

Wayne was born in Lowville on August 30, 1949, to the late William and Ruth E. LaPlante Dosztan. He attended General Martin High School and left South Lewis Central School to serve with the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Thailand.

Wayne was employed by AMF as well as Kraft Foods Manufacturing in Lowville and was married to Brenda L. Shue at St. Martin’s Catholic Church on February 21, 1970. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish as he was a member of the Moose River Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of Charles J. Love Post #406, Boonville American Legion.

Surviving are his wife Brenda, Lowville and his good friend Chris Bower Scouten, Port Leyden. Son, James “Jamie” and Romona, Port Leyden and their children, Corey, Cailey and Carson. Daughter, Mary L. Dosztan, New Hartford and her children, Brooklyn and Jack. Daughter, Shannon Dosztan Trombley, Lowville and children, Brandon and Hunter.

Also Surviving are his six brothers: Jewel “Bucky” and Kim, Lowville; Richard and Virgie, Union Springs; Robert and Gloria, Lowville; Timothy and Cindy, Lowville; Randy and Patricia, Croghan;Terry and Kelly, Lowville; his two sisters: Judy A. Virkler, New Hartford and Sheila Smith, Glenfield and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Pominville, Deacon officiating. Military burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
