LAFARGEVILLE — The Disabled Persons Action Organization and Chapman’s Can-Am Speedway and Motorsports Park will present the second annual Night of Fireworks and Destruction Monster Truck Show on Aug. 24.

Vaters Monster Motorsports will bring five monster trucks to perform at the Can-Am Speedway and Motorsports Park at the event, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Vaters Monster Motorsports has been named promoter of the year by the Monster Truck Racing Association for three years in a row.

The five trucks to compete will be The Black Stallion, Iron Warrior, Higher Education, Back Draft and Eradicator. They will perform in elimination bracket style racing, wheelie and freestyle competitions over salvage cars. The event will include one freestyle motocross rider performing stunts while jumping steel ramp to ramp.

The show also will include the exhibition of a jet-powered four-wheeler performing “burner pops,” a flame show and car burn.

A free pit party, where fans can receive autographs and photos from the monster truck drivers, begins at 5:30 p.m..

In addition to the monster truck show, there will be a Cheney Tire 40-lap “Enduro,” which will feature a high speed demolition derby. Prizes will be awarded for first place ($500), second place ($200) and third place ($100).

Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. June 26. They may be purchased by calling DPAO at 782-0044 or by visiting Kinney Drugs store locations in Watertown, Gouverneur, Canton, Potsdam, Massena, Ogdensburg, Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Adams, Carthage and Lowville.

Tickets also may be purchased at Chapman’s Can-Am Motorsports Park or by calling the race track at 778-3407.

Patrons who present their monster truck show ticket for the race event scheduled for Aug. 23 at Can-Am will receive free admission to the sportsman modified races that evening.

The second annual Night of Fireworks & Destruction Monster Truck Show is made possible by main sponsors Waite Toyota in Watertown and T.J. Toyota in Potsdam and Empire Recycling Corporation of Watertown. Contributing sponsors: Vaters Motorsports, SUNY Canton, Car-Freshner Corporation, Watertown Savings Bank, Labatt Blue Light, Steven J. Hall Inc. Custom Home Builders and AMF Coughlin Printing.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the programs and services that DPAO provides to more than 500 developmentally disabled children, adults and their families in Jefferson and Lewis counties.
