WEST CARTHAGE With no comment during the public hearing, permission was granted for a minor subdivision on Middle Road during the town of Champion Planning Board meeting Tuesday.
The subdivision was requested by Marvin and Diane Micek in order to pass a portion of their property to their son Lance. The board also approved a site plan application for the younger Mr. Micek and his wife April to build a repair shop on the vacant property.
Planning board Chairman Peter J. LaBarge told Mr. Micek that he may receive a bill from the town because when agricultural land is sold, the town can reclaim tax credits.
Mr. Micek now owns and operates Lances Repair out of his Route 3 Herrings home but has outgrown the location. In addition to the automotive repair, Mr. Micek competes in tractor pulls and wants to construct a garage to accommodate the tractor trailer he uses to haul his pulling tractor. He plans to construct a 75 by 48 foot garage with a 15 foot ceiling.
With adjustments made to lighting, the driveway and parking, the town Planning Board gave its approval and will send the documents on to the Jefferson County Planning Board for review.
Im happy with it, Mr. LaBarge said. The county will be looking at the impact on the area. I dont foresee any problems with the county.
