BELLEVILLE- The memorial service for John W. Pierce, 55, of Tiller Road, will be 4:00PM Saturday. June 15th, at the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home. Calling hours will be 2PM to 4PM Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
John passed away Monday evening in the University of Pittsburg Medical Center Presby, in Pittsburg, PA., peacefully after a long valiant fight to obtain his heart transplant, with his sons, mother, wife and longtime friends Rick Serow and Tim Taylor at his side.
He was born November 24, 1957 in Watertown, the son of Marvin and Phyllis Bruckert Pierce. He graduated 1n 1975 from Sackets Harbor Central School, served with the US Air Force from 1975 to 1981. John married Sue Ann Jesmer in January of 1976. She passed away on May 25th, 2006. He married Deanna Brown in a private ceremony on December 26, 2009 and their 5 children insisted they renew their vows, joyously in their presence on July 7, 2010.
Following his release from the service he worked at N.C.I. until 1988 and then at Atlantic Video until 1990 when he began working as an engineer at WWNYTV7 in Watertown. He retired from WWNYTV in 2004 due to his illness.
John is survived by his wife, Deanna; his mother Phyllis Pierce of Sackets Harbor; 2 sons, Cory and his wife Shanna of England, and John Jay of Liverpool; 2 granddaughters, Makayla and Calista of England; 2 sisters and their husbands, Rhonda and Tom Knowlton of Sackets Harbor and Kathy and George Roach of Watertown; 2 step-sons, Chris Bolton of Ellisburg and Corey Bolton of Mannsville; a step-daughter, Kimberly Henry of Port Orchard, WA; 9 step-grandchildren, Layne, Haleigh, Jeb, Zell, Cohen, Marissa, Kaitlyn, Cyrus and Peyton. He was predeceased by his father, Marvin.
John became a baptized member of the Christian Churches of God, he was a member of the Communication Workers of America, Watertown chapter, and he was an avid fan of Syracuse University basketball and football teams.
