Maurice F. McIntyre, age 86 of County Rte. 75, Sackets Harbor passed away at his home Thursday morning under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Maurice was born November 27, 1926 in Watertown, the son of Maurice A. and Freida M. Felico McIntyre. He attended school in Watertown and attended Machinist Trade School and Woodworking School entered the Navy in 1945 and served until June of 1946 and was discharged.
Maurice married Mary M. Gilbert on November 25, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. They lived in Watertown until 1957 and moved to Sackets Harbor.
Maurice was a machinist at N.Y. Air Brake until he retired in 1990. Prior to his naval service he worked for N.Y. Central Railroad as a Firemans Helper.
He was a member of St. Andrews Church in Sackets Harbor where he helped build the Parish Center and also worked Bingo for the church. He was a former Boy Scout leader and member of the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Machinist Union.
Surviving are the following children:
Fred and Linda McIntyre of Pulaski, Bruce and Deborah McIntyre of Wolcott, Tim and Rose McIntyre of Watertown, Donald McIntyre of Sodus, Mrs. Stanley Christine Blackford of Sackets Harbor, Mrs. Hugh Linda Laird of Sodus, Mrs. Michael Patty McCargar of Sackets Harbor, 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His grandson Trevor Maurice Blackford is currently serving in the Air Force at Cannon Air Base in New Mexico.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1996, his son Thomas in 1982, sisters Velma Frasier, Marion Foley, brothers: John and Ross Simser.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4:00-6:00 P.M.
