Davison sentenced on grand larceny charges

CANTON — Scott A. Davison Jr., 27, of 147 E. Orvis St., Massena, was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to pay $1,660 in restitution and $541 in fines, fees and surcharges in connection with a grand larceny charge Monday in St. Lawrence County Court.

On Feb. 15, Mr. Davison pleaded guilty to cashing five checks totaling $1,660 that had been reported stolen from Dong Hoang last September.

According to court documents, Mr. Davison issued five checks on Mr. Hoang’s account on Sept. 9 and allegedly forged a check for $140 at On a Roll Deli.

That incident was followed Sept. 12 when he wrote a check for $300 to On a Roll Deli. On Sept. 17, he allegedly cashed a check for $500 at the First Niagara Bank. He then allegedly returned to On A Roll Deli and wrote another check for $200 on Sept. 19. The last of the five checks was written Sept. 25, when he cashed a check for $520 at First Niagara Bank.

Mr. Davison was originally arraigned Nov. 10, and was sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow.

“Since you have released me on the 15th I’ve gotten a job and entered into treatment,” Mr. Davidson told St. Lawrence County Judge Jerome J. Richards. “I would just like the chance to prove that I can be a productive member of society.
