To The Editor:

The Morley Library AssociationInc. extends thanks to all who helped make the Third Annual Morley Community Summer Festival such a success. Together with the Morley Volunteer Fire Department, the Morley Wesleyan Church and the Heritage Grist Mill, the hamlet of Morley had events taking place in several locations the afternoon and evening of June 7 and again on June 8.

The Morley Community Summer Festival was expanded again this year with good food, music, vendors, demonstrations and informational booths, and children’s activities. Open houses were held at the Morley Library with a showing of early Morley photos, the Heritage Grist Mill and the Morley Wesleyan Church giving local residents an opportunity to tour these historic buildings. New this year, tours were offered at the historic Trinity Chapel with a large number of area residents taking this opportunity to visit this beautiful old building.

The lucky winners of the Morley Library Associationraffle announced during the festival were Ted Wisner, winning the St. Lawrence University season hockey tickets, andBill Kovach, winning a $100 Price Chopper gift card. Jan Felt won a $100 lottery tree, while Jim Sanderson was the winner of a $100 Walmart gift card. Other winners drawn included Elli Donaldson for the certificate from TJ Toyota for a car detailing, Bill Longshore, who won a Black & Decker leaf blower, and Mary Denny, who won the Snell’s Canton Citgo station $25 gift certificate.

Proceeds of the raffle and the ice cream social will help fund the on-going upgrades being made to the library, while the proceeds from food served by the Morley Fire Department and the pancake breakfast at the Morley Wesleyan Church will help those organizations fund their various activities.

Plans are already underway to make next year’s festival bigger and better, involving local and area groups and businesses in a true community event.
