Man accused of chasing ex-wife following domestic dispute

A Watertown man faced multiple criminal charges after he allegedly chased his ex-wife from the city to a home on Fort Drum following a domestic dispute.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said that about 10:15 a.m. Friday, Anthony M. Pegues, 23, of 149 Keyes Ave., Apt. 7, followed Colleen A. Murphy-Pegues to a residence on General Pike Loop, Fort Drum, where he unlawfully entered the garage of the homeowner, Rachel Compton.

At the residence, Mr. Pegues allegedly engaged in an altercation with Ms. Murphy-Pegues, who is pregnant, in front of their 1- and 2-year-old children. The dispute ended after Ms. Murphy-Pegues hit Mr. Pegues with pepper spray.

Arrested on post at 11:40 a.m. Saturday with the help of the post’s military police, Mr. Pegues was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment.

Arraigned in LeRay Town Court, he later was released on his own recognizance.

Ms. Murphy-Pegues had a stay-away order of protection against Mr. Pegues issued May 1 by Jefferson County Family Court. County records show the two divorced in April. A new order of protection was issued against Mr. Pegues.
