CARTHAGE Items big and small were donated to the inaugural Carthage Area Rescue Squad auction, which was held June 1 and raised $2,700.
It went pretty well for the first year, rescue squad member Joshua Crump said.
The proceeds will be used to purchase a battery charger system for power stretchers in the ambulances.
Mr. Crump thanked Gamble Distributors, which donated a Troy-Bilt push mower/mulcher. It sold for more than $200. Other big-ticket items included a camper, going for $600, and a boat for $250.
Mr. Crump said the squad plans to make the auction an annual event, but will not have it coincide with the annual community sales, in order to increase bidder turnout.
