Massena:Helen M. Zakarauskas 77 of Massena died at the Highland Nursing Home Saturday morning, June 15, 2013. Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday afternoon at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena starting at 1pm until the time of services at 3pm with Rev. Scott Fobare, Pastor of St.Mary’s Church officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Surviving Helen is her children, Martin of Massena, Mark and companion Shelly Lazore , Michael and wife Eva both of Norfolk, grandchildren Stephen and Jenifer of Hawaii, Jonathan and Michelle both of Massena, Chris Reynolds of Norfolk, she is also survived by her six great grandchildren Aiden, Landen, Zoey, Matthew, Devon and Ryan. Helen is survived by her sisters Cecelia Janowski and Theresa Halandler both of New Jersey. She will also be rememeber by her good friends at the Highland Nursing Home. Helen was born August 9, 1935 in Wapwallopen, Pa the daughter Stanley and Mary (Robic) Yazemboski. Helen married John Zakarauskas August 24, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Macohaqug, Pa. John predeceased her on November 25, 1986. As a mother and grandmother Helen was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, they were her world. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, cards and all types of word search games. She also enjoyed gardening and loved all kinds of animals. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Those wishing to remember Helen may do so to the Activity Fund at the Highland Nursing Home.
