Two transported to MMH following crash in Massena

MASSENA - A 60-year-old Massena woman was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign after she pulled into the path of an eastbound vehicle on state Route 37 just outside Massena Thursday afternoon.

Massena-based state police said Elizabeth D. Wells of 735 state Route 37C, Massena, was northbound on Route 37C, stopped at the stop sign and then attempted to cross the eastbound lane of Route 37 when she collided with a vehicle operated by Theodore L. Jacobs,7 7, of Hogansburg. He was eastbound on Route 37 at the time of his collision, and his vehicle ended up in the meridian separating the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway.

Jacobs was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital with a complaint of chest pain from his airbag and seatbelt, and Wells was also transported to Massena Memorial for treatment of abrasions and a contusion to her head. A passenger in Wells’ 1998 Chevy Blazer, Victoria E. Wells, 21, did not require medical treatment.

The Blazer and Jacobs’ 2009 Toyota Prius were towed from the scene.

Massena Fire also responded to the accident scene.
