Waterloo – Shirley I. Rabideau, 81, of Stewart Street, Waterloo, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 after a battle with cancer. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

She was born December 4, 1931 in Norfolk, N.Y., daughter of Bernard and Alda (Sackett) Martin. She was a 1949 graduate of Brushton-Moira Schools. Shirley was united in marriage to John Rabideau on February 11, 1950, with the Fr. J.A. O’Brian officiating. After spending 33 years in the North Country, John and Shirley relocated to central New York in 1964. Her working career consisted of several years with Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra, N.Y., and G.W. Lisk, in Clifton Springs, N.Y. However, spending time with her family were her most treasured moments, along with those times in Deland, Florida with her husband, John.

Shirley found great relaxation and peace reading a good book, crocheting, playing a good game of cards, or indulging in a challenging crossword puzzle.

Loving memories of Shirley will forever be with her husband of 63 years, John Rabideau; her children, Robert (Sallie) Rabideau of Newark, N.Y., Lynne (Dana) Allen of Port Byron, N.Y., and Roderick (Susan) Rabideau of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Elaine Bushey of Brushton; brother Donald Trombley of Leesburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Rob, Michael, Alison, Meghan, Courtney, Nathan, Meghan, and Chris; and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Quinn, Nicholas, Eva, Caitlyn, Addison, Spencer, and Charles.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by brothers Lyle and Ronald Martin.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Brushton with Fr. Christopher J. Looby presiding. Interment will commence in the parish cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Shirley’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
