MASSENA - The Massena 17-under baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the season to claim a 4-2 decision over Canton on Thursday.
Brady Currier had a two-run single to key a decisive three-run rally in the third inning. Josh Manley had two hits along with Bayley Labarge and finished with two RBI. Cameron Marsh and Ethan Marcello also had hits in the winning effort. Jacob Vierno went the distance for the win, striking out nine and walking three while scattering a pair of hits.
Massena returns to action this afternoon with a game in Ogdensburg before playing host to Gouverneur on Sunday at the junior varsity diamond.
In a game played on Monday, the Massena 17-under team fell 3-1 to St. Lawrence which rallied to score all of its runs with two outs in the seventh inning.
Massena took a 1-0 led in the fourth inning where James Donnelly walked then came around to score in front of an RBI-single by Marcello. Vierno doubled and Nick McKeel singled to account for the other Massena hits. Marsh took the complete game loss, fanning six and walking three while allowing six hits.
