Claxton-Hepburn recognizes Gloria Martin

Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center named Gloria Martin its volunteer of the year at the annual luncheon Friday.

Ms. Martin volunteers in the hospital Community Relations Department and also the Diabetes Education Department.

“Gloria has been a godsend to me over the years, not only does she help me get ready for my diabetes education classes, which saves me hours of time, but she also helps out at health fairs and even prepares food for my ‘cooking demonstrations,’” Claxton-Hepburn Diabetes Educator Karen Cole said. “Anyone who comes in to chop onions for you deserves an award.”

Longevity awards were presented to M. June Farrell for 15 years, and Sue Moll and Adam Towle for five years.

Additionally, the following volunteers were recognized for 100 or more hours of service: Virginia Blakely, Frank Bondellio, Maureen Carroll, M. June Farrell, JoAnn Gibson, Victoria Jennings, Sylvia A. McCarthy, Rouette McMasters, Beverly Parmeter, Jaime Pratt, Frances Panico and Rose Virkler.

If you are interested in volunteering at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Krista Strader at 393-9175.
