Hermon-DeKalb Central School class leaders


DEKALB JUNCTION — The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at Hermon-DeKalb Central School are Sadie Lynn Smith, valedictorian, and Taylor Leigh Morrill, salutatorian.

Miss Smith, daughter of Brenda Smith and the late David Smith, has an academic average of 97.83. She was named an Augsbury North Country Scholar and received the New York State 2013 Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Rensselaer Medal from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

She was president of the yearbook staff and of the Drama Club, with which she performed several plays, and a member of the school’s music program and National Honor Society. Miss Smith played varsity soccer, earning Academic All Northern honors.

She will major in medical imaging at SUNY Oneonta.

Miss Morrill, daughter of Steve and Jill Morrill, has an academic average of 96.65. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the yearbook staff and the Drama Club and has performed in school plays and as a soloist.

She has received the Clarkson Achievement Award, George Eastman Young Leaders Award from the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology Creativity Award. Miss Morrill played both soccer and softball, earning Academic All Northern honors for both.

She will major in sound recording technology at SUNY Fredonia.
