UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged Allen Blount, 24, of 1 Pine St., Norwood, with unlawful possession of marijuana Monday morning. The charge stemmed from an incident June 11 when officers from the Division of Parole and Community Supervision were attempting to execute a parole warrant at her residence. They didn’t find Yekel, but they said they detectd a strong marijuana odor was coming from her 54 Perkins Road residence and located Blount there. He reportedly had 1 gram of marijuana wrapped in a small plastic baggie in his pocket. He was released on an appearance ticket on the marijuana charge Monday and turned over to the Division of Parole and Community Supervision.

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MASSENA - Village police charged Michael J. Mitchell Sr., 31, of 18 Willow St., Apt. 4, Massena, with second-degree criminal contempt Sunday afternoon. He allegedly violated an order of protection issued March 28 by St. Lawrence County Family Court that directed him to stay away from Christine C. Lawrence. He allegedly violated that order by leaving a handwritten letter, including his two phone numbers, in Ms. Lawrence’s mailbox on Liberty Avenue. He was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and released after posting $750 bail.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Ashton M. Francis, 24, of 381 state Route 37, Hogansburg, with petit larceny and resisting arrest at 5:54 p.m. Sunday. She allegedly shoplifted $594 worth of merchandise - ranging from food and grocery items to a dehumidifier - from Walmart. She ran from police and was taken into custody in a wooded area near the railroad tracks. She was later released on an appearance ticket.

WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Veronica A. Gillespie, 26, of 3 Depot St., Massena, on a warrant held by Massena-based state police at 8:45 p.m. Sunday on Parker Avenue. She was turned over to the state police.

STOP SIGN VIOLATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Timothy J. Becht, 39, of Bayley Road, Massena, for illegally passing a stop sign and operation of an uninspected motor vehicle at 7:34 p.m. Sunday following a traffic stop on Urban Drive at Stephenville Road.

DANGEROUS DOG - MASSENA - Village police charged Amanda M. Castle, 28, of 49 1/2 Maple St., Lot 42, Massena, with having a dangerous dog and allowing a dog to run at large at 4:52 p.m. Sunday.

UNSAFE BACKING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Nathan A. Chubb, 27, of Route 37, Hogansburg, for unsafe backing at 10:57 a.m. Sunday on Prospect Avenue.
