Massena: Gale Castleman, 67 of Allen St. Massena died Sunday (June 23, 2012) at the Massena Memorial Hospital. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday From 2-4 & 7-9 pm, at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Graveside services will be Friday at 1:00 pm in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington with Deacon Arthur Garno officiating. Those wishing to honor Gale’s memory may do so with contributions to the Massena Senior Citizens Activity Fund.

Surviving Gale are her sons David E. JR. and wife Lynn of Massena with whom Gale resided with for the past several years, Kenneth of Ogdensburg, NY. A twin brother Dale and Donna Picket and a sister Patricia and William Doll of St. Louis, MO, several nieces and nephews. Gale was preceded in death by a sister Betty Cave. Gale was born December 3, 1945 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Meyers) Pickett. She married David E. Castleman on September 25, 1965 in St. Louis, MO. As a couple they resided in Heuvelton until the passing of her husband in 2008. Gale later moved to Massena where she resided with her son and daughter in law. Gale was employed at Losurdo Cheese Factory in Heuvelton in the shipping department until her health failed. Gale enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino and her membership in the Massena Senior Citizens. In earlier years she did crafting.
